Recent acquisitions of works by John Hoyland

The John Hoyland Estate are pleased to announce that four major paintings by John Hoyland have recently entered the collections of the Tate, the Tucson Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The Tate’s acquisition of Story from Nature 12.9.96 and When Time Began (Mysteries II) 15.11.10 means that the full arc of Hoyland’s development is now represented in the national collection. The Tate holds eleven works on canvas by Hoyland.

The acquisitions of 14.3.66 and 17.7.71 are the first paintings by Hoyland to enter the collections in Tucson and Philadelphia. At least twelve north American public collections now hold works on canvas by Hoyland.
